Once you have cleared the cut offs in Paper 1 and the qualifying 33% marks in Paper 2 of Prelims, you can appear for Mains. You are being tested for 9 papers in so many different ways in Mains.

You have very little time for preparation for mains. So, you have to prepare GS well in advance so that even the GS in Prelims gets covered. There is a lot of overlap in prelims and mains syllabus. The mistake a student should not do is not to wait for the Prelims results. Even Current Affairs is something which cannot be ignored you need to practice it daily and start at least a year in advance.
